VFW Post 2015 is active in Lakeport and Lake County California serving the needs of active duty soldiers, including the 579 Engineer Battalion our adopted unit, and veterans in many ways. VFW Post 2015 sends care packages to Iraq and Afghanistan with Treats For Troops, assisting the local National Guard with their Christmas Party, a Welcome Home Party for them and other Gulf War veterans, Project Comfort which delivers hand made quilts and lap blankets to the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital. VFW Post 2015 truly beleives in support the troops both active duty and veterans. KANSAS CITY, MO. -- James R. Mueller, national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, has announced the presentation of a Diamond Jubilee Award citation to VFW Post 2015 in Lakeport. The Post celebrated its 75th anniversary on February 6, 2006. "This is a very significant milestone for a VFW Post," Mueller said in announcing the award. "This Diamond Jubilee Award recognizes dedication, determination, hard work and a lot or patriotism. And it recognizes 75 years of serving the needs of local veterans and their families; and 75 years of service to the local community, and 75 years of contributing to the strength, power and influence of our national organization. In presenting this award, I send my sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of VFW Post 2015. There are 2.4 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries located in approximately 9,000 Posts world-wide. The VFW, founded in 1889, assists all veterans and their families in obtaining veterans entitlements and other services. In addition, the organization works for the well being of those serving on active duty, in the National Guard and the Reserve. |
